The Charter of the Humanvillage portal
Entirely committed
Humanvillage is an online community open to citizens, organizations and companies from around the world. We offer this visible space to organizations without regard to their size or location, from the very moment that they start working in the field and contribute in a sustainable manner to the well-being of the local population.
Entirely without borders
We are not interested in borders, segregation, or the politics of skin color. We are equal with other cultures and we can all learn from one another in our diversity. It is the very idea of Humanvillage to overcome these borders and polarised perceptions of the world, and to understand humanity in a wider sense as a community that shares the same village.
Free expression with respect to others
Extreme or political opinions are rejected from our website. We respect the belief and opinion of everybody, but we do not promote any one in particular. Every member is welcome to express their religious beliefs, if they are a source of inspiration for an action of solidarity, but without the purpose of conversion.
Validation criteria for organisations on our site
The team at Humanvillage is doing its best to assure the credibility and quality of the projects and activites of solidarity that are presented on our website. Our team verifies as often as possible the information and approves organisations according to the following criteria:
- Proof of regular activities in the field, with reports passed on to the public
- A clear assignment of tasks within the organizational team, their permanent partners, their background and their role
- Transperancy of finances and sponsors
- A website which is regularly updated
- A clear explanation of the organization’s objectives
- A minimum existence of at least two years
- No goal of religious or political conversion
- No call to racial hatred or polarised side-taking in favour of one party against another, ethnic or national group, within a conflict
We equally encourage the users of our site to participate and to give us their opinion on listed organizations, and to inform us about any abnormalities.
We ask all users to be alert!
The portal of Humanvillage is open to everybody: the publication of information by our visitors is free. An additional control of the quality of information is done by our staff responsible for the website, but unfortunately incorrect and dishonest information may sometimes escape our notice.
We therefore encourage all visitors of our website to be alert, to handle all published information critically and, when receiving e-mails from third parties to exercise extreme caution before getting involved. In particular, always refuse to send money to a person or organization that contacts you through the internet, if you have no means to verify their identity.
Internet fraudsters try regularly to trick people through the use of false names in bulk e-mails and it is extremely difficult to find the true initiators of these messages. Names similar to those of members of well-known charities are often used.
We state that certain people distribute job offers by e-mail, based on listed resumes and disguised as Embassy projects, asking you to pay a handling fee for your dossier. We ask you to categorically refuse such offers!
Humanvillage will not hesitate to prosecute persons or organizations that use our website to publish deceptive information or information that infringes the rights and interests of third parties.
Thank you everybody for respecting these rules!
