The latest edition of France’s “Sustainable Development Week” will take place this year between 1 and 7 April 2009. A programme of events will be available throughout the country, aimed at the public at large: visits, conferences, films, workshops, exhibitions...
“Sustainable Development Week”: what’s the purpose?

Promoted by the French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning, the campaign is designed to raise the awareness of all (citizens, companies, associations, communities) towards sustainable development in all areas and sectors of activity (transport, the environment, tourism, food…), to involve them in a general movement aimed at making them active promoters of sustainable development, by offering practical solutions that they can apply in their daily lives, and to showcase the country’s “Grenelle de l’Environnement” round table process.

Theme: “Sustainable consumption: simple solutions”

The theme of this edition, “Sustainable consumption: simple solutions” focuses the attention of the public on key behaviours and solutions that can be applied in nine areas (the environment, energy, water, food, everyday purchases, transport, tourism and leisure, corporate social responsibility).

The flagship event of this edition: the “Planète Durable” exhibition

The “Planète Durable” exhibition, the central event of this edition, will take place between 2 and 5 April at Porte de Versailles, from 10.00am to 7.00pm each day. This first annual public exhibition given over entirely to sustainable consumption will help visitors to reduce the consequences of their daily behaviour for the environment and to explore concrete ways in which they can consume better and in a more intelligent way, by becoming "environmentally responsible". The exhibition will bring together a panel of exhibitors offering ethical and sustainable solutions in transport, food, renewable energy, tourism… Conferences, events for children, a special route to get to know the “Grenelle de l’Environnement”… will mark the four days of the exhibition.
